Rocky Mount -

Jimmie Rae Joyner, age 79, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at Affinity Somerset Assisted Living Facility in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He was born on March 3, 1946 to Frank Russell Joyner and Daisy Cockrell Joyner. In addition to his parents, Jimmie was also preceded in death by brothers, Harold, Bill, Lester, and Frank Joyner and sisters, Nettie Mae Batchelor, Dorothy Joyner, Ruth Crisp Brown, and Lorine Batchelor.

He leaves a lifetime of memories for his sister, Lynette Cockrell of Rocky Mount; sisters-in-law, Edith Joyner Philips and Doris Israel Joyner, both of Rocky Mount; brother in-law, Bruce Batchelor of Tarboro; along with numerous nieces and nephews who were dear to him.

Jimmie worked in tile and brick masonry for most of his working life. He loved his work and loved to tell stories about his adventures of that and of his life growing up with a big, loving family on the farm.

A private gathering of family and close friends will be held at a later date.
