John H. "Little John" Colbert, Jr., age 66, passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, October 8, 2025 at ECU Inpatient Hospice in Greenville, North Carolina. He was born on November 12, 1958 in Nash County, only son of John Henry and Evelyn Hill Colbert. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Amanda Leigh Colbert; step-son, Shawn Dale Davis and brother-in-law, Bobby Joyner.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Sheila Colbert; grandsons, Jaylan Henry Begley of Wilson, Skyler Eli Evans of Rose Hill and Joseph Benjamin Pittman of Richlands; step-son, Anthony James Davis of Rose Hill and son-in-law, Jaylan "JJ" Begley of Wilson.

Little John will also be missed by his sisters, Jean Colbert Waters and husband, Tommy of Rocky Mount, Becky Colbert Joyner, also of Rocky Mount and Liz Colbert Joyner and husband, William of Gold Rock; his faithful companion whom he adored, American Blue Bully named Charlie Ray; along with many nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.

A service will be held at 7:00pm on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at Gospel Missionary Baptist Church, 8444 Town Creek Road, Rocky Mount, NC 27803 with Reverend Allen Mills officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 6:00pm .

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Davis-Little Funerals to assist with expenses.
