John W. "Johnny" Denton, Sr., age 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at The Lodge at Rocky Mount, NC. Johnny was born on June 17, 1939, in Nash County to John and Mary Brannon Denton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alvanell Martin Denton and brother, Rex Allen Denton.

He is survived by a loving family including his children, Vicky Dean Denton of Momeyer and John W. Denton, Jr. (Laura) of Nashville; brother, Nick Denton (Faye) of Spring Hope; sister, Peggy Denton Ricks of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Michelle Bridgers Holbrook (Andy) of Wilson, John W. "William" Denton, III (Meghan) of Sharpsburg, Jessica Lynn Denton of Momeyer, Ashley Denton Flye (Kenneth) of Nashville, Adam Marcus Denton (Katie) of Greenville, Kelly Elizabeth Denton of Momeyer, and Rebekah Leigh Denton of Nashville; and great-grandchildren, Abigail "Abby" and Alexis "Lexi" Holbrook, Jasey Rae Aycock, and John W. "Liam" Denton, IV and Lillian "Lilly" Grace Denton.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2022, at 11:00AM at Forest Hill Cemetery, Nashville, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
