Joshua C. Thomas, age 35, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 30, 2026. He was born in Nash County on September 27, 1990. He was preceded in death by his father, Courtlon Thomas; paternal grandparents, Albert and Myrtle Thomas; maternal grandmother, Ellen Siebert and great-grandmother, Mary Ellen "Granny" Wommack.

Joshua loved spending time outdoors, fishing, playing video games with friends and family, and was particularly fond of the color purple. His passion for music was evident and he could often be found listening to his favorite group, Modest Mouse. Furthermore, he had a real talent for technology and computers, which led him to embark on a journey into entrepreneurship, starting his own business in the IT field.

Those who knew Joshua often described him as an "old soul," due to his relaxed personality and a wisdom beyond his years. What he will be most remembered for was his compassionate nature; he frequently lent a helping hand to the elderly and disabled whenever he had the chance. With a heart as big as his interests, he left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know and love him.

He is survived by his fiancée, Meghan J. Talbott of Whitakers; mother, Nancy B. Stroup and husband, Scott of Florence, SC; sister, Taylor Law and husband, Drake of Rocky Mount; aunts, Amy Wright and Lynn Hendricks and husband, Brad; lifelong best friend, Brandon Miles and his beloved fur-babies, Koda, Samantha and Shadow.

The family will host a memorial service from 3:00 - 6:00PM on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at the home of Taylor and Drake.
