Joyce Richards Jennings, age 82, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Edgecombe Health and Rehabilitation in Tarboro, North Carolina. She was born on August 26, 1943 to John and Hilda Myers Jennings. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Randolph “Randy” Jennings and sister, Frances Kennell.

She is survived by her stepson, Robert Daniel “Dan” Jennings and wife, Denise of Rocky Mount; nephew, Stephen Kennell and wife, Nicole of Greenwood, NY; great-nephew, Matthew Kennell; along with special friends, Ellen Thomas and Linda Boulden, both of Castalia.

Joyce was a devoted Christian and active member of Castalia Baptist Church. She found great joy in serving the Lord. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, passing out bulletins as the greeter, and was faithful in her worship attendance. Her commitment extended beyond church and into community service where she took pride in lending a helping hand with the food pantry. She dearly adored her church friends, who became like family, and found great fellowship and unity there. While the Castalia community will feel the immense loss of Joyce, we rejoice in knowing she is now in the arms of her Lord and Savior.

A service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Castalia Baptist Church, 9563 NC-58, Castalia, NC 27816 with Reverend Carlyle Hall, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00pm. A committal will be held at 11:00am on Monday, May 11, 2026 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
