Kay Leonard Dorsey, age 71, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 19, 2023 with her loving family by her side after a long battle with cancer. Kay was born in 1951 and grew up in Nashville, NC. In 1970, she married her high school sweetheart, Ray and enjoyed traveling and taking vacations with her family. After her son Jason grew up, Kay took an active role in caring for and raising her nephew, Will and later her cherished granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth. She was a strong and determined role model and through her, they all learned what resilience and perseverance truly looked like.

Kay was the daughter of Rudolph P. and Belle Brown Leonard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Ray Moss. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Ray Dorsey; son, Jason Dorsey and wife, Joan of Nashville; granddaughter, also known lovingly as "her angel", Sarah Elizabeth Dorsey; sister, Gloria Moss of Nashville; nieces, Tammy Longmire and husband, Brian of Nashville and Jenny Moss of Boynton Beach, Florida; nephew, Will Dorsey and wife, Rachel of Leander, Texas; along with many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, pastor, Carlyle Hall and the rest of her church family.

Kay was a member of Castalia Baptist Church. Her pride and joy was her family and many special friends. She was a kind, brave, caring and unimaginably generous wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend who will be dearly missed and remembered by the many lives she touched.

Visitation will be held at 12:30PM Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Castalia Baptist Church, 9563 Main Street, Castalia, NC 27816 followed by a service at 1:30PM. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, Nashville.
