With his loving family by his side, Kenneth "Kenny" C. Owens, age 68, passed away peacefully Friday, May 17, 2024 at his home in Tarboro, North Carolina. His life began on August 12, 1955 in Edgecombe County as a son born to Herman and Peggy Jackson Owens. He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Lee Owens.

He leaves a lifetime of special memories for his devoted daughter, Jessica Owens Allen (Jay); mother, Peggy Baggett; brothers, Lee Owens (Gladys) and Gary Owens, all of Tarboro; sister, Brenda Tucker (Eddie) of Pinetops; bonus son, Mark Winstead (Bridgette) of Kenly; special cousin, Joseph "JD" Owens of Tarboro and close, lifelong friends, Steve Speight of Tarboro and Steve McKinsey of Scotland Neck.

Kenny adored his beloved grandchildren, Kacey Celeste Crawford (James) of Burgaw, Haley Boykin of Wilmington, Hollie Boykin of Wilmington and Cameron Allen of Tarboro; bonus grandchildren, Landyn and Elijah Winstead and great-grandson, Conway James Crawford.

He will also be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, car enthusiast friends and other extended relatives.

The family will receive friends at Sunset Church of God,1709 Anaconda Road, Tarboro, 6:00 - 8:00 pm, Monday, May 20, 2024, and other times at the home.

A service to celebrate and remember Kenny's life will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, May 21, also at Sunset Church of God. Burial will follow at Edgecombe Memorial Park.
