Kenneth Lee Parker, 78, of Momeyer, NC, passed away on January 26, 2025. He was born on August 6, 1946, in Wilson County, North Carolina, to Hubert Ray Parker and Rosa Blanche Price Parker, both of whom preceded him in death.
Kenneth retired from Winn-Dixie as store manager after 31 years of loyal service. His dedication to his work was matched by his love for his community. For 27 years, he served as the Mayor of Momeyer, offering steadfast leadership and a deep commitment to his neighbors. His service extended beyond local government; he was an active member of the Momeyer Fire Department, where he held the position of assistant chief and volunteered as an EMT for many years.
He was a proud member of the Momeyer Ruritan Club, where he contributed for 52 years, embodying the spirit of community and service. During his tenure he held many positions including Board of Directors, Treasurer, 3-term President, Zone Governor. He also received the prestigious Tom Downing Fellow award. His faith was central to his life, and he was a devoted member of Mt. Zion Freewill Baptist Church, where he served in various roles including Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and Building Committee Chair.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Colleen Bass Parker. He was a devoted husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, leaving behind his son, Stuart Lee Parker (Amy). He is also survived by his brother, Edward Ray Parker; grandchildren, Victoria Whitley (Clay) and Kendall Parker (Whitney); and great-grandchildren, Emmett, Doc, Wesley, and Cana.
Kenneth's legacy of service, kindness, and unwavering commitment to others leaves a lasting impact on those who knew him. He was known for his generosity, often helping others without hesitation and offering support whenever it was needed. Kenneth will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kindness, and the immense love he had for his family and community.
The family will receive friends and family for visitation at Momeyer Ruritan Club 4812 Momeyer Way, Nashville on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 from 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held at Mt. Zion Original Freewill Baptist Church, 1779 Mt Zion Church Road, Nashville on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 2 PM. Interment will follow at Oakdale Cemetery in Spring Hope, NC.
