Larry Minshew, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026, at the age of 66. Born on November 10, 1959, Larry leaves behind a legacy of love, memories, laughter, and countless moments that will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Larry was a man who found joy in the simple things in life. He loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing and enjoying the beauty and peace of nature. Above all, Larry treasured the people around him and the relationships he built throughout his life.

Larry is survived by his beloved son, Tommy Sheffield, and Tommy’s wife, Jessica Ray; his daughter, Amanda Long, and her husband, Charlie Long; and his cherished granddaughter, Trinity Sheffield. He is also survived by his beloved niece, Delia Heard, who held a very special place in his heart.

Larry is also survived by his sister, Karen Sturges, and her husband; his niece, Ashley Plantz, and Ashley’s husband, Landon Plantz; and his nephew, Phillip Sturges.

Larry was deeply loved by his extended family and in-laws, including Dennis Ray, Julie Marshall, Dianne Carver, Brian Ray, Logan Ray and his girlfriend, Sarah, Melissa Lyons, Zo Lyons, their daughter, Zoey, and their son, Caleb.

He will also be lovingly remembered by Reggie Sills and Danny Miller, who loved Larry like their own father, as well as Simp Marks, affectionately known as “White Hair Lady.” Their love, friendship, and presence meant so much to Larry and were an important part of his life.

Larry will also be deeply missed by his childhood friend, John Wilder, and John’s wife, Christy Wilder, as well as his former bosses, John Daughtridge and Johnny Daughtridge.

Larry worked as a brick mason for more than 30 years, dedicating much of his life to his trade and the people he worked alongside. Over those many years, he built more than walls and structures—he built friendships and lasting memories with the people he met along the way.

His former boss, John Daughtridge, shared these heartfelt words about Larry:

“Larry wasn’t just a helper on the jobs; he was a friend, and I’m glad I had gotten to know Larry over the years.”

Those words are a fitting reflection of the kind of person Larry was. To those who worked beside him, Larry was more than a coworker or a helper—he was someone they came to know, respect, and care about.

Larry’s presence brought something special to the lives of everyone around him. He will be remembered for the memories he created, the conversations he shared, the laughter he brought, his love of fishing and nature, and, most of all, the love he gave so freely to his family and friends.

Though Larry is no longer with us, the memories he left behind will never fade. His love will continue through his children, granddaughter, family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of those who loved him.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
