On January 5, 2025 the Wallace family lost their beloved husband and father, Lawrence" Larry" Wallace, 85 who passed away peacefully at UNC Nash Hospital surrounded by his loved ones. He was born July 12, 1939, in Tazewell County, Virginia and is proceeded in death by his parents, Thomas Alfred and Edna Ruth Wallace as well his son-in-law, Danny Lawrence Outlaw. He married the love of his life, Wanda King Wallace, who survives him with a love story that endured 67 years. Along with his wife, he has left to cherish his memory the five children they raised together. Debbie Outlaw, Kathy (Tom) Wilkins, Sheri (Mark) Tufts, Gary (Susan) Wallace and Tommy (Lisa) Wallace. Not only was Larry known as a husband and father, but he also proudly bore the name of Papaw and Grandfather to his 12 Grandchildren and was blessed by 13 great grandchildren.
He proudly served in the US Air Force between 1956-1960 when he was honorably discharged. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 58, where he served the position of First Vice Commander until his illness prohibited him. He loved to regale the stories of his time of service and his beloved B-47 bomber and cherished the friendships made with his fellow veterans.
Larry lived a very full life and previously was a member of Grace Free Will Baptist Church as well in later life he was an attentive member of Englewood Baptist for many years.
He had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. He was a friend to count on and always there for those in need. His most cherished time was spent with his family, friends and his beloved dogs.
A service with military honors will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Davis-Little Funerals, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00pm.
