Leon Wade Joyner, age 76, passed away Thursday, September 17th, 2020 at Nash UNC Health Care in Rocky Mount, NC. He was born in Nash County on August 5, 1944 to Earley Wade and Beulah Gay Joyner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas Clayton Joyner. He was a proud veteran having served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He later embarked on a successful career with the railroad and retired after twenty-five years of dedicated service.

Leon was blessed with a large, loving family that includes his brothers and sisters, Robert Isaac Joyner of Asheville, Dallas Carlton Joyner of Wilson, Gordon Alan Joyner of Florida, Preston Joyner and wife, Bonnie of Rocky Mount, Beverly Renee Gardner and husband, Phillip of Whitakers, and Gayle Annette Koonce of Greenville. He will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, family friends and other extended relatives.

A graveside service to celebrate and remember Leon's life will take place at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 22nd at the Williams Family Cemetery of Floods Store Road, Rocky Mount. The family will greet friends immediately following the service.
