With his loving family by his side on Friday morning, July 31, 2026, Leroy Moore, Jr., age 79, finished his race here on earth to claim life and victory with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was born October 11, 1946, in Pitt County, North Carolina, one of five children in the family of Leroy and Frances J. Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Pollard; brothers, Danny Ray Moore and Lonnie Earl Moore; son, David Lee Moore; and great-granddaughter, Aubree Casper.
He is survived by his devoted wife of fifty-five years, Beth Moore; their sons, David Earl Casper (Janet), Tim Moore (Jackie), and Ronnie Casper (Tina), all of Tarboro; and daughters, Gloria Carpenter (Lee) of Nashville, and Penny Wynne (Jamie) of Fayetteville.
Papa Leroy also leaves his seventeen grandchildren, David Earl Casper, Jr. (Michelle), Caitlyn Strickland (Corey), Sabrina Long, Shelby Long, Kristin Carpenter (Thomas), Spencer Moore (Bethany), Samantha Webb (Nate), Jamison Wynne, Jaycee Wynne, Emilee Moore, Alanna Moore, Wilbur Earl Meeks, Jr. (Ebony), Christopher Meeks (Morgan), Drew Casper (Jenn), Jonathan Casper (Rebecca), Matt Peaden, and Chloe Peaden; as well as thirty-four precious great-grandchildren.
Additionally, Leroy will be deeply missed by his brother, Larry Wayne Moore (Phyllis); daughter-in-law, Rae Nelson; sisters-in-law, Donna Moore and Patsy Moore; and brother-in-law, Larry Pollard, all of Tarboro; along with a loving network of several nieces, nephews, family friends, a faithful little pup named Buddy, and many other extended relatives.
A service to celebrate and remember Leroy’s wonderful life will be held at 3:00 pm, August 5, 2026 at Sunset Church of God, 1709 Anaconda Road, Tarboro. Interment will follow at Edgecombe Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 pm, and other times at the home.
Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to Sunset Church of God.
