Linda Faye Conyers Davenport, age 81, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, September 3, 2024 at her residence in Nashville. Linda was born August 17, 1943 in Ahoskie, NC to James A. and Lillie N. Conyers of Tarboro. Following her graduation from Park View School of Nursing in 1964, Linda had a long career in nursing, primarily focused on emergency nursing and pre-hospital care. In the mid 1970's, she was heavily involved in helping to train EMS and Rescue Squad providers in new methods and skills for treating pre-hospital emergencies. In the 1980's and 90's, as an Instructor with Nash Community College, Linda was instrumental in bringing paramedic level care to the EMS and rescue services of Nash County as well as most of Eastern North Carolina. Known to her students affectionally as "Our Mom", she had a lasting influence on many EMS providers across the state and her influence is still felt to this day. As an ER nurse at Nash General Hospital until her retirement in 1999, she was the EMS Nurse Liaison between the hospital and the local EMS services helping to provide the guidance needed to ensure the highest level of care available. Linda loved the beach and she loved to travel. She loved watching sports, especially college basketball during March Madness and Atlanta Braves baseball.

In addition to her parents, Linda was preceded in death by her son, Eric Wayne Davenport; sister, Margaret Conyers Gray and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Davenport. She is survived by her sister, Becky Conyers Grizzle (David) of Silver Creek, GA; sons, Herman Lee Davenport, Jr. and Robert Scott Davenport (Christina), both of Rocky Mount; grandsons, Jonathan Davenport (Stephanie) of Greenville, Jacob and James Davenport, and Chase and Austin Davenport, all of Rocky Mount and great-grandson Jack Davenport of Greenville.

Visitation with family and friends will be held Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Davis Little Funerals, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 from 5pm to 7pm. Interment will be private at Greenwood Cemetery.
