IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marilyn Jean
(Marino) Lovasi
July 1, 1948 – December 16, 2022
Rocky Mount -
Marilyn Jean Lovasi, age 74, passed away peacefully at home with her husband, Andy, by her side on Friday, December 16, 2022
She was born to Henry Edward Marino and Josephine DiStanlo Marino on July 1, 1948. Just behind her Lord, Marilyn was devoted to her family and her nursing career. After marrying the love of her life, Andrew M. Lovasi on March 31, 1973, Marilyn added to her family two precious sons, Drew and Jason. While working full time, she managed to serve as PTA President and chauffer to Boy Scout meetings.
She earned her bachelor's degree from the State University of New York and her master's degree from Seton Hall University. She served as the Emergency Room Nurse Manager at Wayne General Hospital in Wayne, NJ for several years. In her later career, Marilyn was instrumental in the accreditation process for the Center for Allied Health and Nursing Education in 2004 which later became Jersey College. She was hired as the first instructor which has graduated over 10,000 nurses.
She and Andy moved to Florida so she could assist in developing nursing campuses in Tampa and Jacksonville. The Jacksonville campus dedicated the "Lovasi Learning Center" to Marilyn in 2017, and she became the first Dean of Nursing at this campus. After leaving Florida, Marilyn and Andy moved to Rocky Mount, NC where they attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and enjoyed the slower pace of life. Marilyn remained tied to her career by serving as a Trustee of the Board at Jersey College.
Marilyn's love of people was her passion; healing the sick, educating the willing, mentoring to her family, and encouraging all. Her eyes sparkled with love and adoration when she spoke of her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. She was proud of their accomplishments and their photos are displayed throughout her home.
In addition to her husband of almost 50 years, Marilyn is survived by her son, Drew Lovasi and wife, Ewa, and their children, Vincent and James Lovasi of Andover, NJ and son, Jason Lovasi and wife Chrissy, and their children, Alexandria, Isabella, Samantha and Ethan, of Pompton Lakes, NJ; sister, Gloria Jean Cicchino and husband, Carmen, of Galloway, NJ and their children C.J. and Lisa and her husband Greg.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Matthew 25:21
