Fountain –

Mavis Arlene Owens, age 77, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. She was born in Edgecombe County to Oliver S. and Frances Webb Ivey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Billy and Howard Ivey.

She is survived by her loving husband, Danny Owens; daughter, Sharon Robinson and husband, Doug of Fountain; son, Joey Owens of Fountain; sisters, Bobbie Jean Hobgood and husband, Harold of Tarboro, Sue Proctor and husband, Luke of Crisp and Linda Heath and husband, Gerald of Bath and her loyal Jack Russell, Chloe.

Mavis loved reading and spending time with her family. Mavis and Danny Joe were teenage sweethearts and spent most of their leisure time together. In the last few years, you could find them walking together at the river or sitting on the couch holding hands. Mavis was happiest of all at home with her family, Joey, Sharon, and Danny Joe. She loved going out to eat on Saturdays with her daughter, her sisters, and their daughters. She always had a great time going to Blue Grass festivals with Danny Joe, Sharon, and Ernie. She enjoyed reading and going to church. Mavis enjoyed her friends, co-workers, and people in general. Her warmth and sense of humor was inspirational. She always had a kind word for everyone she met. Mavis will be missed by all.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Maccripine FWB Church, 5815 NC Highway 111 S, Macclesfield, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at the home.

A special note of appreciation to Sharon, Debi, and Linda. We could not have gotten through such a difficult time without them.
