Meddett Ruth Goff, age 42, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021.  She was preceded in death by her son, Jaydon West Gibson; father, Carl Cullom; and maternal grandparents, Paul and Mary Bain.

She is survived by her wife, Brandy Goff; son, Ethan Luke Barnes; daughter, Lydia Ruth Barnes; mother, Nora Cullom; sisters, Bonnie Epperson of Talladega, Alabama, Tracy Hamad of Tarboro, and Rachel Stavish of New York City, New York.

Meddett loved her pet pig, Bella.  She treated and took care of Bella as if she were one of the children.  Meddett loved making jewelry and operated her own jewelry shop from her home.  She learned to design jewelry that would reflect the things that were important in life.  Meddett's favorite saying, "meet me by the river" lead to her favorite pastime where she enjoyed fishing and relaxing by the water.  She also loved to paint, sing, write poetry, and spoil her animals.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her two children, Ethan and Lydia Barnes.  Meddett developed a strong bond with them and she fostered an environment of self-worth and open communication. Her greatest supporter was her wife, Brandy. Meddett will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Aubin Faith Family Cemetery, Rocky Mount. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Sonlight Ministries, 12080 US Highway 258 S, Macclesfield, NC 27852.
