Milton "Mickey" McLamb, age 80, passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, September 12, 2024 at PAM Specialty Hospital in Rocky Mount, NC.
He was born in Durham County, NC on August 24, 1944 to Milton and Katherine McLamb, both of whom preceded him in death.
He is survived by his devoted wife of twenty-two years, Nellie Odom McLamb; children, Wendy McLamb of Graham, Chad McLamb (Susan) of Hartsville, SC, and Mandy Day (Tracy) of Mt. Holly; sister, Sandra Vogue; grandchildren, Nicholas and Christopher Cato, Zach Delvecchio, and Thomas Day; and great-granddaughter, Mia Delvecchio. He will also be greatly missed by his Yorkie-Poo, Lucy; as well as nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.
Mickey was a proud veteran having served honorably in the United States Navy. He received a purple heart serving as a Corpsman alongside the US Marines during the Vietnam War.
Mickey was an avid enthusiast of fishing and boating. Some of his greatest early memories were of spending time with his son and daughters bass fishing at Kerr Lake, NC. He also loved deep sea fishing and spending time with his loving wife Nell and their many close friends in Indian Beach, NC.
Before he lost his hearing, one of Mickey's greatest joys was listening to music and dancing. Some of his favorite artists were The Drifters, Sam and Dave, Otis Redding and Delbert Mclinton, He also enjoyed shag dancing and made some of his greatest friends as a part of the Eno Beach shag club in Durham.
A special note of thanks and appreciation goes out to our beach family for all of the support, calls, texts and care during this time.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Mickey will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will take place at a later date.
