Nora Lee Hutson

Nora Lee Hutson, age 84, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026. She was born in Lumberton, North Carolina to the late James Addison Tyndall and the late Geneva Mears Tyndall.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Ashton Scott Hutson, and by her siblings Carol Tyndall Humphrey, Faye Boone, and Charles Tyndall.

Nora raised her three sons in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, within the community of Parkwood Baptist Church. She was a fierce advocate for her sons and for their education. She enjoyed a long career as a travel agent and loved the opportunity to travel and explore the world. She also loved gardening and painting, and in recent years, she made regular visits to the UNC Nash Cancer Center to deliver inspirational rocks that she had painted for the patients there.

Nora is survived by her two sons, Shane Hutson and wife Diana of Nashville, TN and Brian Hutson and wife Jennifer of Nashville, NC; by her siblings, Susan Tyndall, Frank Tyndall and Billy Tyndall; and by her grandchildren Jacob, Peyton, Kimberly, Wells, Daniel and Cody; along with many friends, nieces, nephews and other extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, c/o National Center, 7272 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75231.

A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.
