Ernest Calvin Lee, Sr., at the age of 90, was welcomed into the arms of his loving savior Friday June 7, 2024, with his family by his side.

Calvin Lee was born into a large and loving family to parents, Jimmy and Placid Lee, at home in Speed, NC in June of 1933, although due to technical difficulties, was not officially registered until July 18th, 1933. He lived and worked on the farm with his family for much of his young life until meeting and marrying the girl he chased school buses for, Dean Lewis, on August 15th 1951.

December 2nd, 1956, was the day that Jesus reached down from his throne into the life and heart of twenty-three year old Calvin Lee in Mildred Baptist Church, pastored by Lester Harris. His legacy began as the pastor of Calvary Baptist church in Tarboro, NC in 1978. Following the merger of Calvary Baptist with New Birth in July of 1988, Northern Boulevard Baptist Church was established and would be his home for the rest of his time in ministry. During this time, Brother Calvin was able to minister to the hearts of the people of Tarboro for over twenty-five years. He was a man that lived what he preached and shared his love for Jesus with all who would hear. Calvin's faith and love for the Lord allowed him to navigate through the difficulties in life that are promised to all who believe with such grace.

Brother Calvin was a beloved father figure to many who were lost and seeking. His life and ministry will not be forgotten; it will live on through the many lives he has touched and introduced to Jesus. So, death, where is your sting?

In addition to his parents, Calvin was preceded in death by his siblings, James "Bud" Lee, Frances Lee "Ma" Edmondson, Placid Lee Hathaway, Carrie Mae Lee Harrell, and Ada Elizabeth Lee; and more recently his beloved wife of seventy-two years, Dean Lewis Lee, and their devoted son, Ernest Calvin "Skeet" Lee, Jr.

He has left wonderful memories that will forever be cherished by his daughter, Kim White and husband, Paul of Bath, NC; sister, Margie Rogister; brother, Roy Franklin Lee and wife, Peggy, all of Tarboro; grandchildren, Christopher Lee of Greenville, Emily Daughety and husband, Caine of Ayden, Caylon White of Los Angeles, CA, William Witchard of Hobgood, and Grant Lee of Tarboro; great grandchildren, Judah Lee and Elias Caine Daughety of Ayden, along with the countless others whom he loved and mentored during his life.

Friends are invited for a special time and service to remember his life and honor God on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Northern Boulevard Baptist Church, 502 E Northern Blvd, Tarboro, NC. Visitation will start at 1:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Calvin's Life at 2:00 pm. Interment will be private.
