IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Patrick "Pat"
Milligan
January 24, 1964 – July 11, 2022
Rocky Mount -
Patrick "Pat" Keith Milligan, age 58, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, July 11, 2022. He was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on January 24, 1964, to Leland and Patricia Klein Milligan. In addition to his parents, Pat was preceded in death by his aunt, Vonnie Milligan.
He leaves behind a lifetime of treasured memories to his wife of 18 years, Sharon Karp Milligan; daughters, Lauren and Sarah Milligan, both of the home; brother, Christopher Milligan (Christina) of Glendale, CA; sister, Alison Posyananda (Eddie) of Aztec, NM; aunt, Susan Engel (William); and cousins, William Engel (Tammy) and Jana Lamb (Byron).
Pat was a proud veteran, having served honorably with the US Marine Corps. He was a First lieutenant and served as the Field Artillery Officer. During his service, he was awarded the Rifle Expert Badge, Pistol Expert Badge, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, and the Southwest Asia Service Medal. Pat served in both Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.
After having received an honorable discharge from military service, Pat continued promoting the interest and preservation of the traditions of the US Marine Corps by serving as an active member of both the local Veterans of Foreign Wars Organization and the Marine Corps League Detachment #1262, and in 1994, Pat earned an MBA in Operation Management from Golden Gate University in California where he worked for many years in the transportation and logistics industry. Sensing a call to ministry, Pat went back to school at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary where he completed a master's degree in theology in 2019. Pat loved Jesus and used his seminary training in service to his community through his annual participation in Toys for Tots and as the founder of Down East Veterans Outreach in October 2019, a ministry to other military retirees "for the vet, by the vet." Pat ministered through this group with scheduled in-person meetings and later through his own YouTube channel.
In his free time, Pat also enjoyed baseball, whether he was watching, especially the Detroit Tigers, or umpiring locally. He was also very giving of his time and spent nine years as an official with USA Swimming.
Pat was a devoted father and husband and loved watching and helping with his children's extracurricular activities whether it was dance, tennis, or swimming. His passion for spreading God's Word also continued until his last days. He was a faithful member and deacon of Rocky Mount Bible Church.
A service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Rocky Mount Bible Church, 5630 Dortches Blvd, Rocky Mount. Military honors will follow at Forest Hills Cemetery in Nashville. The family will receive friends on Friday, July 15, 2022, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, Rocky Mount Bible Church and other times at the home.
