IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peggy A.
Staton
May 1, 1944 – January 7, 2026
Sharpsburg –
Peggy A. Staton, age 81, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 7, 2026 with her loving family by her side. Her journey began in Nash County on May 1, 1944, daughter of Oliver and Romanda Turner Parker, both of whom preceded her in death.
For those of you who knew Peggy, she was a character. She loved some razzle dazzle and most of all, she loved her family. The other side of Peggy was a faithful Christian woman who loved Jesus with all her heart. Her favorite verse was Matthew 7:7 - "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you"
She leaves a lifetime of treasured memories for her husband of sixty-one years, James Staton; daughters, Angie S. Langley (Gary) of Laurel Springs and Tammy S. Leposa (John) of Elm City; sisters, Janice Manning of Nashville and Brenda Gardner of Rocky Mount; along with several extended relatives.
Peggy especially adored her grandchildren, Blake Langley, Brant Langley (Keisha), Zachary Melvin (Kristin), Grant Melvin, Taylor Leposa Dicks (Justin) and Zachary Leposa (Daniella) and great-grandchildren, Luka James and Myla Mae Melvin.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Ridgecrest Worship Center, 1120 West Mount Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27803. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 11:00am, and other times at the home of Tammy and John Leposa.
