Phyllis Ruth Roberts Goodwin, 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Rocky Mount Rehabilitation Center in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

Born on June 19, 1945, in Englewood, New Jersey, Phyllis was the daughter of Claude Martine Roberts and Ruth VanSant Roberts. She was preceded in death by her parents and her two brothers, Horace "Bud" Roberts and John "Jack" Roberts.

Phyllis is lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Earl Henry Goodwin; her son, Carroll David Goodwin (Mary) of Clayton; her daughters, Ruth Goodwin Ayers of Raleigh and Mary Ann Goodwin Jernigan (Clint) of Garner; and her cherished grandchildren: Matthew, Natalie, Trey (Chandra), Andrew, Ryan, and Ashley.

Phyllis was an active member of her church and community throughout her life. She had a passion for cooking and was especially known for her delicious caramels and pumpkin bread. Her kitchen was a place of comfort, joy, and togetherness. A talented pianist, she filled her home with music and shared her gift freely with others.

Her warmth, creativity, and kindness touched everyone who knew her.

The family will receive visitors at the Jernigan Residence, Sunday, May 18, 2025 from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m., 104 Hogan Drive, Garner, North Carolina.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
