Richard Wayne Shearin, age 84, passed away peacefully at home Friday evening, September 25th, 2026 with his devoted family by his side. He was born in Littleton, North Carolina on May 22nd, 1942 and was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Thomas Shearin and Ida Mae Harper Shearin Watkins; son, Richard "Ricky" Shearin; grandson, Danny Kristopher Shearin; brothers, Clifton Shearin and Danny Harper and twin brother, William Shearin.
He leaves a lifetime of cherished memories for his son, Danny Ray Shearin; daughter, Regina Hux and her husband, Anthony "Dee"; brothers, Mack and Claude Shearin; sister, Nancy Thomas and her husband, Bill; along with many nieces, nephews, family friends, and other extended relatives.
Richard was a loving Papa who will be especially missed by his grandchildren, Danielle Shearin, Brittany Svoboda (Bobby), Anthony Hux (Allison) and great-grandchildren, Lexie Seuss, Paisley, Corbynn, and Robert Weston Svoboda and Avery and Addilyn Hux.
He was always known as a hard worker with a simple friendliness who never met a stranger. He loved to talk and socialize and could manage a good joke from almost every situation. Deep down, he had a cowboy spirit and always looked sharp in his black cowboy hat. Richard was a man who deeply loved his family and treasured the time spent with them.
A time of visitation will be held from 3:00 - 4:00pm on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026 at Davis-Little Funerals, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount, NC 27804 and other times at the home of Regina and Dee.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice of Nash and especially their dedicated staff, Lyndsey, Norma, Greyson, Melissa and Chaplain Timothy Deans for their care and concern shown to Richard during his final season.
