IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ricky
Pearce
June 14, 1953 – December 6, 2022
Middlesex -
Ricky Pearce, age 69, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at his home in Zebulon, North Carolina. He was born on June 14, 1953 in Franklin County to Virginia and Billy Pearce. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Mike Smith; nephew, Michael Paris; brother-in-law, Frankie Peele and dogs, Bear and Cuddles.
He is survived by the love of his life and best friend of 34 years, Katie Pearce; daughters, Laura Pearce (J.R. Perry) of Whitakers and Courtney Smith of Grand Coulee, Saskatchewan, Canada; brothers, Anthony Pearce (Becky) and Wayne Pearce (Penny); sister, Wanda Peele; uncle, Ray Price; nieces, Toni, Casey, Sarah, and Leslie; nephews, Matthew, Dustin, Brandon, Kevin, Mark and Bryan; beloved animal companions, Dixie Rose, Star, Peko and Cinder. Ricky was especially proud of and adored his granddaughters, Emma Morris and Abbigaile and Evalynne Smith.
Ricky was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish, bird watch, tend to his garden and flowers and enjoyed hiking the Appalachian trail with his beloved canine companion, Bear. Ricky spent many nights singing and entertaining crowds in a band called Boogie Chilins where southern rock n roll was a staple in their setlist. In his free time, he could be found at home tinkering in the yard while singing Lynyrd Skynyrd, reading novels or the Sunday paper, or watching NASCAR with his favorite racing partner, Tommy Redd.
He also attended Middlesex Baptist Church for a majority of his life where he had perfect Sunday School attendance, even if that meant bringing the teachings into his home. Ricky enjoyed the simple things in life such as giving and receiving cards for any and all occasions. He was known to bring a tear to the eye of anyone reading a personal anecdote that he had written inside. He was a devoted family man who truly appreciated the simplicity of life and the presence of his loved ones. There was no shortage of "I love you's" when he was around, even if many years had passed since he saw you, his love never faded. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and those who had the pleasure of knowing Ricky.
