IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert "Junior"
Denton, Jr.
April 23, 1954 – December 17, 2025
Tarboro-
Robert "Junior" Denton, Jr., also affectionately known as "Jun-Bug", passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at Edgecombe Health Center in Tarboro, North Carolina. He was born on April 23, 1954 in Tarboro, the oldest son born to Robert and Edith Warren Denton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond "Buck" King, David Denton and Donald Ray King, Sr. and stepdaughter, Laurie Ann Staton.
Junior thoroughly enjoyed music, especially rock music and the Allman Brothers Band. His musical abilities led him and his friends to start "Homemade Jam", a local rock band that he played bass in during the mid-70s. Once his rock 'n roll days ended, Junior found pleasure in the outdoors through fishing and farming. His quick wit and sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his brother, Harold Denton and wife, Teresa of Crisp; sisters, Edith Scott and Lois Williams, both of Tarboro; stepson, Wiley Staton of Tarboro; special friend, Mike Kennedy, of Pinetops; along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and family friends.
A graveside service will be at 2:00pm on Sunday, December 21, 2025 at Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck, NC. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 3:00pm on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Davis-Little Funerals, 2129 Lawrence Circle, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
