Red Oak -

Robert David "RD" Smith, age 77, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Wake Medical Center. He was born on September 23, 1943 in Halifax County to Sam and Nellie Mae Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Chris Smith; siblings, Clifton Smith, Frances Palma, Sam Smith, Jr., Lin "Peewee" Smith, Dorothy Whitehead, Fred Smith, and Marvin Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Shearin Smith; son, Jeff Smith and wife, Michelle of Red Oak; their children, David Smith of Boston, MA, and Bailey Lancaster and husband, Cody of Pinetops; son, Greg Smith and wife, Carrie of Rocky Mount; their children, Trenton Smith, Kimberly Hall and husband Michael; and children, Braxton, Braylen, and Mary Blaire Hall; daughter-in-law, Jamie Smith and son, Walt Smith; brother, Frank Smith of Greenville; sister, Louise Faulkner of Cary; sisters-in-law, Janice Smith, Janelle Powell, Ruth Smith, Ellen Bass, Beth Hogan and husband, Dave; many nieces and nephews; and man's best friend, "Trooper".

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Englewood Baptist Church, 1350 S Winstead Ave, Rocky Mount, NC 27803 or by livestream at https://livestream.com/ebc-live/events/9503366 . The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at the home.
