IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roger Arnold
Anderson
December 7, 1950 – July 4, 2023
Boydton, Virginia –
Tuesday, July 4, 2023, Roger Arnold Anderson embarked on his most important journey to reunite with his parents, Arlie Holmes Anderson and Eulis Rogers Anderson.
Roger was an active boy scout, ultimately rising to the honor of Eagle Scout. During and after college, he worked with the Boy Scouts of America as a counselor. As his career was coming into focus, he worked at numerous national park sites and monuments before becoming a US Army Corps Engineers park ranger.
Throughout his life and especially in retirement, he traveled North America but focused mostly on US Travel. Roger took pride in being a tour director, guide, environmentalist and lover of wildlife, especially birds.
His most loved endeavor was his time on the Billy Graham Rapid Response team as a chaplain where he was able to travel to the places he was needed to pray and help those affected by disaster. Roger's personal goal was to educate the public to appreciate God's nature.
Roger leaves behind a legacy of his love for family, friendship and service to God's country and will be dearly missed.
A service will be held on Monday, July 10, 2023 at 11:30am at Fields United Methodist Church, 2800 Sullivan Road, Boydton, VA 23917. Friends will be received prior to the service beginning at 11:00am.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roger's memory to the Audubon Society of Northern Virginia, 11100 Wildlife Center Drive, STE. 100, Reston, VA 20190 or by visiting https://www.audubonva.org/donate .
