Susan Nelms McLean, age 66, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 23, 2023. Born on January 17, 1957, she was the second daughter and third child of Geraldine Brown Nelms and Marvin Earl Nelms. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Viverette and brother, John Nelms.

She is survived by her husband of over 42 years, Danny McLean. She was a wonderful, providing mother to her three boys, Samuel (Mollie), Joseph (Laura) and Daniel McLean (Kayleigh) and adored her five precious grandchildren, Lincon, Wyatt, Makayla, Rory, and Gwendolyn. She is also survived by her brothers, Richard and Ben Nelms (Janet); sister, Nancy Bass (Tim); along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Susan was a loving and thoughtful soul who often surprised her family and friends with whimsical gifts that were reflections of the way she looked at life and combined with her beautiful artistic talents. She loved to work in the yard and garden. When she picked up one of her autoharps and sang some old time song or hymn, it was always a joy to whoever was there to witness. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

The family will host a Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 2:00PM at Mount Zion Original Free Will Baptist Church, 1779 Mount Zion Church Road, Nashville, NC 27856.
