IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia Carol
Futrell
May 9, 1941 – December 15, 2023
Rich Square –
Virginia "Carol" Futrell, 82, of Rich Square, died on Friday, December 15, 2023 at ECU Health North Hospital. She was holding hands with Warren and Lori as she entered Heaven to meet her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and those who had gone on before.
She was born in May of 1941 in the family home in Northampton County, right outside of Rich Square to parents, Garland and Lillian Warren. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, David G. Futrell; sister, Hazel Gregory and grandson, Christopher C. Futrell.
Virginia was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church where she played the piano until their closing. She worked at Mylcraft Manufacturing Company in Rich Square as a clothing inspector and also worked for a time at Lasker Service Center. She had a true servant's heart and was well-known in the community from volunteering in the lunchroom at Northeast Academy to working the voting polls in Lasker until her health declined. As she settled into her role as a homemaker, her interests were cooking, baking, and canning vegetables from her garden. Her greatest joy was becoming "MaMa" to Chris and Michael whom she loved more than life itself. Just when she thought there was no greater joy, she became "Great Granny" to Madison, Caroline and David.
She is survived by her son, David Warren Futrell and wife, Lori of Rich Square; grandson, Pastor Michael Futrell and wife, Ashley of Harrison, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Madison, Caroline and David Futrell of Harrison, Ohio; brother, Raymond G. Warren of Conway; several nieces, a nephew and several great-nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all of the caretakers that helped with her caregiving. We thank you all for showing such love and compassion in the moments that mattered the most.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, December 23, 2023 at the Vaughan Family Cemetery, Pin Hook Road, Rich Square with Pastor Jeremy Kobernat officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
