Virginia "Ginger" Horne Matthews, age 85, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2023. Her journey began on October 13, 1937 in Sampson County, North Carolina, daughter of Lattie Elmer Horne and Etta Hall Horne. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Webb Matthews, III; sister, Elma Alene Adcox; brother, Lattie Elmer Horne, Jr.; and great-granddaughters, Kelsie Grace Bales and Chelsea Joy Bales.

She is survived by daughters, Karen Matthews Adams (John) of Macclesfield and Stephanie Matthews Allen (Scott) of Knightdale; grandchildren, Jennifer Kay Braswell, John Henry Adams, IV (Shannon), Summer Elizabeth Allen (Mark Bacigalupo) and Garrett James Allen (Kennedy Kistler); and great-grandchildren, Bobby Aaron Bales, Jr., Gavin Eli Joyner, Jayden Henry Adams and Makenna Grace Adams.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 12:00pm at First United Methodist Church, 100 S Church Street, Rocky Mount, NC. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall prior to the service beginning at 11:00am.
