IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Walter Lee
Brown
October 18, 1944 – February 28, 2023
Tarboro -
Walter Lee Brown passed away on Monday, February 28,2023 at ECU Health – Greenville after a short stay in palliative care. He was born October 18, 1944 in Pitt County to Edward and Ethel Barrow Brown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Earl Brown and wives, Norma Jean Bryant Brown and Jeanette Prince Griffin. Walter is survived by his brother, Roy Brown (Pattie) of Greenville and sister-in-law, Wertie Brown of Ayden.
Walter fought hard the last 6 months with his health slowly declining and he decided it was time to go home. He retired from Barnhill Contracting after working 54 years as a motor grader operator. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing and motorcycle riding with his brother. Later in life he enjoyed woodworking and he developed a personal relationship with his Lord and Savior and loved supporting Northern Blvd Baptist church and his church family.
Walter leaves behind many friends and loved ones. He blessed people often and did many good deeds, all unbeknown to others, as he did not desire nor expect any recognition. He will be dearly missed and he was truly a servant of the most high God and he is being rewarded greatly.
Per Walter's wishes, no funeral services will be held. Walter will be remembered during a Sunday service at Northern Blvd Baptist Church in Tarboro.
I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course; I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day. 2nd Timothy 4:7-8
