Wanda Thompson, age 78, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, September 9, 2023. She was born in Forsyth County December 2, 1944 to Garvey and Mildred Welborn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Thompson. She was a retired educator having devoted approximately thirty years teaching within the public school system. She also had a deep passion for music and enjoyed using her talents in service for music ministry at Shenandoah Baptist Church.

Wanda leaves many cherished memories for her loving family that includes her daughter, Tara Vester and husband, Rodney of Red Oak; step-son, Scott Thompson of Statesville; and sister, Donna Edwards and husband, Jack of Rural Hall. She was especially proud of her grandchildren, Nicholas Vester, Caitlyn Coleman and husband, Uriah, Peyton Vester, Parks Thompson, Lizzie Thompson, and Connor Thompson.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at 11:00am at Rocky Mount Memorial Park, 4544 Dortches Blvd, Rocky Mount, NC 27804. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
