Wendy Colbert Braswell, age 51, passed away Thursday morning, June 15, 2023. She was born in Nash County on August 31, 1971. She was preceded in death by her father, Danny Hugh Colbert, Sr.; paternal grandparents, Joe Thomas and Gevie Colbert and maternal grandparents, Herman and Ruby Gurganus Padgett.

She leaves a treasure trove of memories for her daughter, Autumn Brooke Bryant of Elm City; mother, Betty Gurganus Jones (Charles) of Rocky Mount; brothers, Danny Hugh Colbert, Jr. (Donna) and Joseph Scott Colbert, all of Rocky Mount; sisters, Shelly Melissa Colbert (Cliff Webb) of Rocky Mount and Tracy Winstead of Nashville; nieces, Christen Amber Colbert, Lauren Ivy Colbert and Shaeleigh Webb; nephew, Cameron Scott Colbert; great-niece, Emelia Kate Colbert; and special friend, Lorie Harrell of Nashville. Wendy will also be deeply missed by several other extended relatives and friends.

Wendy was a former employee of Hitachi Astemo (Keihin) for twenty-one years. Her proudest achievement was her daughter, Autumn, to whom she was completely devoted. She loved being a mother and supported Autumn in all her accomplishments. Wendy had a welcoming smile and personality that helped her make friends easily and will be remembered by those who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Wendy's Life will be held Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 6:00PM at Sunset Church of God, 1709 Anaconda Road, Tarboro, NC 27886. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
