IN LOVING MEMORY OF
William Wayne
Hendricks
June 21, 1944 – December 26, 2024
Rocky Mount -
William Wayne Hendricks, age 80, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 26, 2024 at his home with his devoted family by his side. He was born on June 21, 1944 in Nash County, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his father, Wade Hendricks; mother, Mary Wilkes and siblings, Roy Hendricks, Peggy Tyson and Ginger Lamm.
He leaves a lifetime of treasured memories for his wife of fifty-eight years, Cathie Hendricks; sons, Scott Hendricks (Teresa) and Kevin Hendricks (Shana), all of Bailey; siblings, Marshall Hendricks (Faye) of Rocky Mount, Juanita Marshall of Williamsburg, VA, Patricia Wohl of Littleton, James Hendricks, Vann Hendricks, Brenda Spivey and Tommy Hendricks, all of Nashville; along with other extended relatives and family friends.
Wayne was a proud "PaPa" to Joshua Hendricks (Lori) of Bailey, Nick Faulkner (Holly) of Elm City and Paisley Hendricks, also of Bailey and "Big PaPa" to Charlie and Savannah Hendricks.
Wayne grew up in a big family that was deeply rooted in farming, where he learned the value of hard work from an early age. The skills he learned on the farm allowed him to have a successful career as a meat market manager across several stores. After fifty-two years of service in the meat industry, Wayne retired from Piggly Wiggly in Bailey. After retirement, he focused his time on running a small engine repair business, which he enjoyed immensely. Wayne also had an appreciation for nature, often spending his free time hunting and fishing.
Above all, he was a dedicated Christian and member of Sharpsburg Church of God, where he enjoyed the time spent worshipping alongside his church family. Other than his Lord and Savior, nothing was more important to him than his family. Many days were spent with his wife, children and grandchildren where laughter and good food were common staples. Wayne will be dearly missed by his family, friends and his church family.
The family will host a memorial service at 11am on Friday, January 3, 2025 at Sharpsburg Church of God, 405 John J Sharpe St, Sharpsburg, NC 27878. There will be a time of visitation immediately following the service.
