ROCKY MOUNT -

William "Billy" Lester Shearin, age 57, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Carlton and Susie Brake Shearin.

He is survived by his wife, Shelby Abrams Shearin; son, David L. Shearin, both of Wilson; brothers, Carl, Phillip, and Warren Shearin; mother-in-law, Rosa Abrams; along with a host of nieces, nephews, family friends and other extended relatives.

Billy invested his life into children that were in need of foster care.  He brought them into his home and loved them as if they were his very own.  He knew there would come a day when the children would move into a permanent setting.  Yet, he endured the hurt of letting them go, but cherished the memories of investing into the life of children who needed love and compassion.  In lieu of flowers, Billy's family has asked to please consider contributions in his memory to The Baptist Children's Homes of North Carolina, PO Box 338, Thomasville, NC 27360.

The family will receive friends 1:00pm - 2:30pm, Friday, March 29 at Memorial Baptist Church, 5399 Old Wilson Road, Rocky Mount, followed by a graveside service at the Brake Family Cemetery.
