William "Ray" Moore, age 76, passed away peacefully Monday, January 8, 2024 at his home in Tarboro, North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Williams Eden; infant child, Billy Ray Moore; step-father, Tom Edens and daughter-in-law, Leta Bateman.

Ray was known for his passion and wealth of knowledge of most anything with wheels. Through the years, he especially enjoyed owning and driving Harley Davidson bikes, and vintage and new trucks and cars, alike. In his heart lived a deeply rooted appreciation for all of God's creation. He was a lover of life and family and within his lifetime, extended that special care to many pets including dogs and cats, as well as any animal in need that crossed his path, such as simple turtles attempting to cross the road.

Ray's life was important because he made our world a better place and we're so grateful to have shared these years with him.

He leaves many years of cherished memories for his devoted wife, Lois Ann Hudson Moore; children, Eric Bateman of Tarboro, Michelle Langston and husband, Chris of Snow Hill and Amy Vause of Tarboro; sister, Tammy Mobarry and husband, Clark of Maryland and step-brother, Tom Burleson and wife, Nancy of Tennessee. Ray was a beloved and proud Pepa to his grandchildren, Tristan Bateman and his wife, Lynnlee and Natalie Belle Vause and great-granddaughter, Coley Grimes Bateman. He will also be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, family friends, and other extended relatives.

Please join family and friends for a Celebration of Ray's Life: 2:00 pm, Monday, January 15, 2024 at Cobb Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1101 Sunset Ave., Tarboro. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:30 pm.
