William Robert "Bobby" Winfree, Sr. passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 23, 2023. He was born in Nash County on May 29, 1945 to parents, Matthew F. and Ruth Proctor Winfree. In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by siblings, Tommy F. Winfree, Raymond K. Winfree, Helen W. Carrico, and Jimmy A. Winfree.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Judy F. Winfree. He also leaves behind children, William R. "Billy" Winfree, Jr. (Beth) of Garner and Amy E. Herbst (Scot); grandchildren, Lindsey Winfree of Garner, Kai and Aya Herbst; sisters, Florence W. Gupton of Bettendorf, Iowa and Linda W. Boseman of Whitakers; brothers, Danny Winfree of Wendell and Gregory Winfree of Louisiana, along with nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.

He will be remembered for his skill as an auto mechanic and for his generosity toward others.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Nash UNC Health Care, 2460 Curtis Ellis Dr., Rocky Mount, NC 27804.

A private memorial will take place at a later date.
