Rocky Mount –

Wilma Nelms Walters, age 87, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025 at her home in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Her journey began in Edgecombe County on June 17, 1938, daughter of Alexander and Olivia Walker Nelms.

In addition to her parents, Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Franklin "Frank" Walters; son, Herbert Franklin "Frankie" Walters, Jr.; sister, Faye Nelms Sealy and brothers, Alexander Nelms, Jr., Clifton Thomas Nelms and John Allen Nelms.

She is survived by her son, Michael Walters of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Danielle Walters Cleve and Jordan Franklin Walters, both of Rocky Mount; daughter-in-law, Cindy Walters; brother-in-law, Elmer Lee Walters, also of Rocky Mount; sisters-in-law, Ann Nelms of Nashville and Betty Walters of Stone Mountain, GA; along with several nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Williams Family Cemetery, Floods Store Road, Rocky Mount, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
