Woodrow (Woody) Wooten, Jr., 65, son of the late Woodrow Wooten, Sr. and Gladys Moore Wooten, passed away early Saturday morning, June 6, after a brief illness.
Woody graduated from East Carolina University with BS and MA degrees in history and political science. He taught extension courses for ECU. He later attended law school in New Orleans. He worked for a video store in Greenville and later ran his own video rental store in Grifton for several years.
Woody lived in the Falkland community all his life where he was known for his wry humor and his love of dogs. At one point, he had 32 dogs!
Woody was passionate about old westerns, books, comics, and pop culture, and curated a fascinating collection of pop culture memorabilia from the sixties, seventies and eighties.
Woody could often be found at Sue’s restaurant in Falkland at lunchtime where he enjoyed the good food and fellowship with friends.
He is survived by twelve cousins and numerous friends who loved him and many of whom were especially supportive in the last weeks of his illness. A special word of appreciation goes to Mike Buck and Charles Lawrence, long time friends who were always there for Woody through the years. He will be missed by all of us.
