Aileen Rose Davis

November 26, 1927 ~ August 9, 2023 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Nashville –

Aileen Rose Davis, age 95, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, August 9, 2023. Her journey began in Nash County on November 26, 1927. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, Joseph R. “Bill” Davis, Sr; mother, Lucy Williams Rose; and siblings, W.T. Rose, Junior Rose, Alvin Rose, Clifton Rose, Alma Clarida, Doris Griffin, Christine Pierce and Helen Jones.

She leaves behind a lifetime of wonderful memories for her children, Joseph R. “Billy” Davis, Jr. (Marcia), Phyllis D. Petty (Butch) and Paul Earl Davis; and siblings, A.J. Rose, Eugene Rose, Ronald Rose, Ann Varnell and Joyce Ellis. Aileen was especially proud of and adored her grandchildren, Jo Ellen Reams (Joe), Travis Davis, Kevin Petty (Heidi), Tyler Petty and Hunter Davis; great-grandchildren, Justin Reams (Brandi), Jessica Reams, Caleb and Hannah Davis, Lilli, Bentley, Brooklyn and Lukas Petty; and great-great grandchild, Bralee Reams.

Aileen and Bill opened their hearts and home to many family members over the years. Granny Davis lived with them and Granny Rose moved next door so there were many family members coming and going. Aileen and Bill enjoyed family and friends for annual Easter egg hunts and Christmas Eve with candles down the driveway, cedar tree lit, Santa and delicious treats. Their home was the gathering place and hosted many family reunions.

Aileen was a homemaker and always had a large garden to store food for the winter. Her homemade donuts were legendary as well as her bbq chicken and well-seasoned potatoes. She enjoyed crochet and we all have afghans to prove it. She was multi-talented and no job was too big for her. She loved serving others.

Aileen placed faith, family and fellowship above all. She loved her church family and visited neighbors and shut-ins with bulletin in hand as long as she was able. She did not mind dropping in on new people in the neighborhood and making sure they knew they were welcome at Red Oak Baptist, which earned her the title of Church Lady. They were sure to get another visit and bulletin if she didn’t see them at church. She also had the title of Ticket Lady. She was famous for her ticket sales for Red Oak Baptist so much so that the Red Oak Fire Department enlisted her to sell tickets for them as well.

She loved her family dearly. She rarely missed the many sporting events, horse shows and trail rides where her children and grandchildren participated. She and Bill had center court seats at Red Oak basketball games. She was an avid NC State fan and enjoyed tailgating at football games and Bowl Game trips. She looked forward to beach trips with family and teaching the children new card games and beating them at putt-putt.

She was strong-willed and shared her opinions tactfully. She enjoyed loud laughter which probably contributed to her long life. She provided us with many “Granny Stories” over the years. She will be so very missed by all that knew and loved her.

A service of remembrance and celebration will be held at 3:00pm on Sunday, August 13, 2023 in the sanctuary of Red Oak Baptist Church, 5515 Red Oak Road, Red Oak, NC 27868..
