Ann Wooten Obituary

Tarboro -

Ann Owens Wooten, age 81, passed away peacefully Sunday, July 14, 2024 in Tarboro, North Carolina. She was born on May 9, 1943 in Pitt County to Thomas and Donnie Edwards Owens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Floyd Wooten.

Ann's parents passed away during her early childhood when she was just five years old. Her Uncle James and Aunt Lena brought her home and raised her as their daughter alongside their son, James Rufus. She enjoyed attending Otters Creek FWB Church in Macclesfield during her younger and healthier years and maintained a long time connection with her church family.  While she had no children of her own, she deeply loved her many nieces and nephews and their extended families. She was a much loved and sweet staple in the Owens and Wooten families and will be greatly missed.

She is survived by a loving family including her beloved "brother", James Rufus Owens (Brenda) of Grifton; nephews, Brent Wooten (Tammy) of Macclesfield and Danny Owens of Rocky Mount; and nieces, Geraldine Odom of Macclesfield, Bonnie Lee Owens of Rocky Mount, Kathy Gay and Barbara Pittman, both of Macclesfield; along with a host of other extended family including great and great-great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 6:30pm at Autrey's Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 588 Otter Creek Church Road, Macclesfield, NC 27852. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
