Anthony "Tony" Silveri Obituary

Tarboro -

Anthony “Tony” Charles Silveri, passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021. He was born on July 21, 1931 in Ridgway, Pennsylvania to Omero and Mary Contoni Silveri. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Lois White Silveri and his brothers, Richard and Frank Silveri.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-one years, Judy Lewis Silveri of Tarboro; his children, Anthony Silveri II (Karen) of Spring Hope, Mark Silveri (Michelle) of Rocky Mount, John Silveri of Raleigh, and Gina Silveri of Steamboat Springs, Colorado; his step-children, Lyn Lewis, Jr. (Sherri) and Rose Lewis Taylor (Eugene); his grandchildren, Kimberli, Anthony III (Julie), Matthew, and Landon Silveri, Joseph, Omero, and Zoey Graff, Lyn Lewis III (Ashley), Matthew Lewis (Allison), Sarah Denton (Matt), and Samuel Edmonds; and great-grandchildren, Hadley Lewis, Adalyne Silveri, and Lyn Lewis IV.

He was the best husband, father, Papa, and Poppi Tony. He was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. He had a servant’s heart, apparent in the time he selflessly devoted to many helpful endeavors. As a member of the Golden K, he volunteered many hours as a mentor reader for young students and a smiling bell ringer for the Salvation Army. He was a member of the Vidant Edgecombe Hospital Developmental Council and offered a familiar and comforting presence as a hospital volunteer for over twenty years. He also served his community through many works with additional civic organizations including the Rocky Mount Moose Club, Knights of Columbus, and the Tarboro Lion’s Club. Tony lived to serve – he held a deep determination to do for others and fix any need that he could…no matter how much duct tape or silicone it took.

Tony’s life was important because he made such an impact on so many others. Our world is a much better place for having him in it. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, and community neighbors.

A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Tarboro on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 12:30 PM with Father Jim Magee officiating.
