Billy Murray

Billy Andre Murray, age 88, passed away Friday evening, May 30, 2025 at Nash UNC Health Care in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. His journey began in Nash County on September 24, 1936, son of Hardy Albert and Martha Brantley Murray.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Murray; siblings, Harold Murray, Danny Murray, Albert Murray and Jenny Spellman and the mother of his children, Emma Murray.

He leaves a lifetime of memories for his children, Richard Murray of Warrenton and Teresa Murray of Elm City; sisters, Georgia Murray of Greensboro and Josephine Flora of Bunn; companion, Phyllis Conney; along with several nieces, nephews and other extended relatives.

Billy was a proud “Papa” to Alyssa Rubin (Kris) of Fernley, NV, Jessica Proctor of Elm City and Victoria Proctor (Joshua Shearin), also of Elm City.

A service will be held at 3:00pm on Tuesday, June 3, 2025 at Barnes Hill Free Will Baptist Church, 5592 West Mount Drive, Nashville, NC 27856. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00pm.
