Rocky Mount –

Bobby Gene Langley, age 88, passed away Friday afternoon, October 10, 2025. He was born on July 20, 1937, the oldest child born to Sidney Ross and Jetta Dorsey Langley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Garland Langley, Charles Langley and Peggy Vester.

He is survived by his son, Byron Langley of Rocky Mount; daughter, Diane Crute of Newport News, VA; sister, Joyce Proctor and husband, Ralph of Nashville; grandchildren, Amber Tilley, Dakota Langley, Miranda Bolton and husband, TJ, Hunter Langley and Chase Langley; great-grandchildren, Levi, Elysia and Luke Bolton, Carson Langley and Malachai Langley. Bobby will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.

Bobby was a proud American, having retired from the United States Air Force following a twenty-one year career as an administrator. Upon retirement, Bobby returned to Rocky Mount and successfully owned and operated Miscue Bar and Lounge for over nine years. Bobby was a dedicated, hard-working man who took pride in his work.

After selling the Miscue Lounge, Bobby found joy in reading, fishing and woodworking. Using his wood crafting skills, he became part of the North American Bluebird Society where he built bird houses and gifted them to friends and family. He was paramount in establishing the bluebird community in Rocky Mount. Above all, Bobby loved his family. He enjoyed spending time with his children, siblings and grandchildren and his presence will be dearly missed.  

To honor Bobby’s wishes, no services will be held.
