Nashville –
Durwood passed away Friday, March 26, 2021 at his home in Nashville, NC. He was born on June 12, 1940 in Rocky Mount, NC to the late Frank and Margaret Williams. He had fought heart problems and COPD for the past few years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Ann; his sister, Carolyn Ruffin of Rocky Mount; his daughters, Mandy Williams of Sanger, Texas and Teresa Williams of Nashville; granddaughter, Melissa Williams of Rocky Mount; grandson, Chason Williams; former daughter-in-law, Amy Williams; and two great-granddaughters, Sophie and Hailee Williams, whom he loved dearly.
He was a retired purchasing agent from Universal Leaf. He loved playing golf with his friends at Northgreen Country Club until recently. Most of his playing had been at Birchwood Country Club where he served on the Board of Directors and was a Senior Club Champion. Among his favorite pastimes was watching his UNC Tarheels and rooting them on while talking to Roy as though he was on the court with him.
Due to Covid, a later memorial service will be announced. Visitors are welcome at the home of Ann Williams, 1300 Birchwood Drive, Nashville, NC 27856.
