Carol (Warrington) Brinkley

Carol Warrington Brinkley, age 78, concluded her earthly journey April 15, 2020 after a long, valiant battle with cancer. She served God by being a devoted and loving mother, sister, aunt, educator and friend.

   Carol was born in Suffolk, VA on January 13,1942 to Effie S. Warrington and Thomas E. Warrington. She grew up in Suffolk, and attended Main St United Methodist Church with her family. She was a prolific portrait artist in her youth and was always amazing family and friends with her many talents. After graduating from Suffolk High School in 1960 and marrying, she continued her education at North Carolina Wesleyan College (Rocky Mount, NC), and was in the very first graduating class of 1964. She began her scholastic  career at Coopers School (Nash County, NC), later teaching at Southwest Edgecombe, and finally at Nash Central Jr High until her retirement in 2000. She enjoyed teaching French and English, and strived to leave a lasting impact upon her students. After retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her daughter, cooking gourmet meals, reading suspense thrillers and gardening. She was an intellectual with a love of the arts, literature, and of nature and animals. She enjoyed contributing to her favorite charities like St Jude’s Children’s Hospital, Paralyzed Veterans of America, and homeless pet /animal charities.

    Left behind to cherish numerous loving memories are her daughter, Janelle Brinkley of Rocky Mount, NC, brother Thomas E Warrington Jr of Murphy, NC,  special nieces and nephews, cousins, local and distant friends, and ex husband John C Brinkley of Sharpsburg, NC. 

Graveside service will take place at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, April 21st at Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk, Virginia. Flowers are welcome, as are donations made to her favorite charities in her memory.
