Caroline Cale Smith, age 31, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023. She was born on April 13, 1992 in Edgecombe County to parents, Jeffrey Cale and Vicky Dew. She was preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Roscoe and Doodle Whitley and grandfather, James “Duke” Dew.

She is survived by her husband, Scotty Smith; children, Savannah Rose Peaden and Brandon Chase Murphy; step-son, Scotty Smith, Jr.; mother, Vicky Dew Andrews (Anthony Moseley); father, Jeffrey Dean Cale (Tracy); step-father, Kevin Andrews (Tina); siblings, Lizzy Andrews (Travis), Mykaela Keel (Greg), Tyler Russ, Jeffrey Cale, Jr., Parker, Katie, Bridget and Jordan Cale; step-siblings, Brittney Tripp (Harvey), Candace Grooms (Nathan) and Shay Harper (Zach). Caroline will also be missed by her grandparents, Irene and Bruce Cox, Buddy and Nancy Cale and Kathy Andrews; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended relatives.

Caroline found peace in nature and could often be found fishing, swimming or just simply walking along the river, soaking in the sunshine. She was also a wonderful cook and enjoyed making things from scratch, the way she learned from her Grandma Doodle. She loved her family and had a big heart and will be deeply missed by those who knew her.

A service will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at 3:00PM at United Christian Ministries, 1402 Woodgreen Road, Tarboro, NC 27886. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 2:00PM and other times at the home of Mykaela and Greg Keel.
