Carolyn Jane Stancil

Carolyn Jane Stancil, age 90, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Bethel Villa of Nashville Retirement Center. She was born on January 5, 1936 in Nash County to Daucy and Deanie Barnes Stancil. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Jeanette Dove. Carolyn was a dedicated employee with the City of Rocky Mount as a payroll clerk where she worked until her retirement.

She is survived by her nieces, Lea Ann Nichols (Tom) of Red Oak and Jo Ellen Rogers (Tony) of Williamston; nephew, Billy Dove (Cathy) of Rocky Mount; one great-niece and two great-nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 3:00pm on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park, Rocky Mount, NC with Reverend Michael Wells officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 3739 National Dr, Ste 110, Raleigh, NC 27612. 

The family would like to thank the staff of Bethel Villa for their compassion and care and Gentiva Hospice for comfort in Carolyn’s last months.
