Cathy Shortt

Patty Catherine "Cathy" Shortt, age 73, passed away peacefully at her home early Tuesday morning, November 12, 2024, with her devoted family by her side.

Born March 25, 1951 in Washington, D.C., Cathy was the youngest child of Willie and Shirley Rose. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings, Ralph “Pete” Rose, Billy Rose, and Shirley “Sis” Davis.

Cathy is survived by a loving family that includes her husband of forty-three years, Terry W. Shortt; children, Mariann Schrader Shortt (Kevin) of Spotsylvania, VA,  Jerry “Bruno” Schrader, Jr., (Elizabeth) of Dumfries, VA.,  Carrie Shortt of Fairfax, CO., and Joseph “Joey” Shortt of Takoma, MD; and siblings, Glenda Heflin (Sonny) of Huntingtown, MD, Charlotte Pasquerette (Bill) of Jefferson, MD, and Hope Patterson of Virginia, along with many family friends and other extended relatives.

She was a beloved “Nana” who will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Ashley Boswell (Ryan), Ryan Shortt (Alisa), Jacob Schrader, Alexis Saville, Jessie Shortt, and Joseph Shortt, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Cameron Cressman, Nayely and Wilder Boswell, Harper Saville, and Scarlett Caballero.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Rocky Mount Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Davis-Little Funerals and other times at the home.
