Susan Cleo Worrell, age 96, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 13, 2022 at her home. She was born on March 4, 1926 in Nash County to Charlie and Sue Bone Barnes, both of whom preceded her in death.
She is survived by a loving family including her husband of 75 years, Lonnie Wade Worrell; daughter, Yvonne Lucas of Spring Hope; granddaughters, Angie Vandemark and husband, Trevor of Spring Hope and Amy S. Reason and husband, Ken of Stokes; great-grandchildren, Nathan Reason, Liana Vandemark, Tucker Vandemark, and Caleb Reason; along with several nieces, nephews, and a devoted pastor and church family.
Cleo was a lifetime member of Barnes Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in all capacities of the church and had a true servant’s heart. She was known for her fantastic homecooked meals and could always be counted on for delicious contributions at various homecomings, reunions, and other gatherings. Lovingly known as “Nanny” to her family, she was a devoted Christian who lived for the Lord and her life was a true reflection of her faith. Cleo will be dearly missed.
A service to pay tribute to her memory will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Barnes Hill Original Free Will Baptist Church, 5592 West Mount Drive, Nashville, NC 27856. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
A special note of thanks and appreciation to our friends and devoted church family for the many prayers and acts of kindness. We are especially grateful for the loving care Nanny received from Hospice of Wilson.
